Superintendent Patrick Holdaway

Leader, National Business Crime Centre, City of London Police

Superintendent Patrick Holdaway, from the City of London Police, has led the National Business Crime Centre (NBCC) since December 2018.  Prior to that Patrick was the business crime lead in Hampshire Constabulary where he spent 26 years before transferring to the City of London Police in 2021.

The NBCC represents UK Police forces working in partnership with the business community to tackle crimes against businesses including retail crime.  During his time at the NBCC Patrick has worked across policing and government to raise the issues that affect business, developing and sharing best practice and providing guidance through its dedicated website and social media channels.

Recent work includes the Retail Crime Action Plan, Operation Portum, a nationally recognised safe spaces scheme which includes over 13,000 retail locations, and the Safer Business Action Days initiative, which brings together police, private security and retailers to tackle crime.

Through Patrick’s leadership the NBCC has been formally recognised with awards on a number of occasions for its work supporting policing, private security and the retail and transport sectors.
