ince the changes to National Insurance contributions were announced in the last budget there has been concern from UK businesses about the impact the cost of employment will have on their livelihoods and the ability to keep staffing levels stable.

Indeed, in January a major supermarket chain announced a swathe of cost-cutting measures and changes to instore services, partly attributable to increased employment costs, but many small businesses will also feel the impact of NI increases acutely as the new NI threshold and will be £5,000, reduced from £9,100.00 currently.
The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) estimates that, overall, the changes will add 2% to employers' payroll costs.
